Our Power to Create Goodness

Our power to create goodness – a new blog by Judy Inspired by the evening news with Brian Williams
It’s been a very long time since I’ve written a blog. It was just yesterday when my new friend Mary and I went for a walk in one of Marblehead’s conservation areas, Steer Swamp.  I was telling Mary that this favorite place of mine  was the inspiration for two of my blogs, and I lamented that I haven’t blogged in a long time. Walking the woods with Mary, I was pulled down again into a connection to Mother Earth, like nothing else does. We had a wonderful conversation on “my rock” at the top of a clearing, and we both marveled at the trees and their interlaced branches, and the colors of the October leaves.

Just now I was inspired by something else: the evening news. “What?” You say? Yes, I’m in disbelief myself. Being one of those sensitive people, like you perhaps, the news seems harsh, negative and sometimes horrifying. I agree. But living alone, somehow I seem to want my morning oatmeal and evening “whatever” with some company. So sometimes I turn on my TV. I admit I’m one to cry easily…sometimes because it’s some unfortunate event happening to some creature, or the forests, or the ocean or fishes, or some humans somewhere. Fire, disasters, animal cruelty, wars…so much sorrow. Ouch!

Tonight it began with a turtle. Have you seen the commercial for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care? The theme song rings in the background. “It’s time we take care of one another…” or something like that.  On screen is a turtle, upside down with its legs flagging. Its friend, another turtle, is nudging the upside-down turtle with its head, in a gallant effort to turn it right-side up! Finally the nudging is successful and the upside-down turtle turns right-side up onto its feet. Success! Made me think of… geeze…how did that turtle know it needed to give persistent nudges to save the other turtle’s life? What would upside-down turtle have done without it’s friend?

Next up was the news. Brian Williams. The voice of integrity and conviction. The handsome news anchors’ anchorman. I love him. The first news report I caught was about a man, Army Captain Will Swenson, receiving the Medal of Honor for plunging into the “kill zone” to rescue the wounded. Reinforcements were not sent in because it was too dangerous. And in the midst of the turmoil, Captain Will Swenson kissed a soldier that he was rescuing, dragging to safety. The soldier died two months later from his wounds. Captain Will Swenson wanted that soldier to know that his efforts were noted, honored, admirable. It came out as love, in a silent simple kiss.

The next report that I caught in this same newscast was a piece about extraordinary kids and a football coach. The coach, Scott Hamilton, gave new meaning to the notion of “winning.” The kids were challenged, mentally and physically. But when they played sports, it didn’t matter how well they played. They were part of a group, a team, a collective effort. They got to wear a jersey with a number. They were winners, no matter what. This coach changed the definition of “winning”. “The scoreboard,” says the coach, “isn’t the only measure of victory.”

With extraordinary contrast, then came a news report about middle schools and cyber-bullying. A 12 year-old girl killed herself. Her classmates were sending her messages like “drink bleach and die.” The cyber -bullying continued even when the child moved to another school. The classmates were charged with stalking, related to Rebecca’s suicide. I thought back for a moment to that time in high school when I was a sophomore. My brother’s friends were seniors. Whenever I walked past them through the corridors, they yelled in unison, “blimp.”  Blimp.,. Blimp.” That was tough to take. It hurts even now. But it wasn’t a gang, it wasn’t all that persistent, and it didn’t follow me through the years. I know what it’s like, to be young, wanting acceptance, to be part of a group, to have a friend, and instead to be insulted, pushed away, hated…during that tender time in life when we just want to be liked, even loved, by our classmates, our friends…people like ourselves.

All of this reminds me about the notion of Oneness. That all of our perceptions that we are separate from one another are false…part of this 3D illusion we are witnessing. That when we reach out a hand to someone we are reaching toward all of humanity. That the Divine is the One who we see when we look into someone’s eyes. That when we don’t take a stand against violence toward Earth or her creatures or toward one another, we turn away against Divine Love itself. This notion of I/you, we/them is growing old and worn. When we help someone the energy of that choice continues to move outward. When we forgive someone, the energy of that forgiveness keeps going. When we choose peace over anything not of peace the energy of that choice continues… and helps perhaps one person to kiss a soldier…or save a life…or take a stand against bullying,  And when we stop keeping score, and feel pleased and fulfilled because we are giving life our best, we help to allow others to do the same.

Now it’s almost time to watch The Voice. Aside from the TV news that joins me for meals, this is about the only thing I watch. How affirming it is, to see extraordinary new musical talent be affirmed by mega-stars in the music industry. To give it your “all” and then have a sign light up “I WANT YOU!”  I think we are all giving it our best, huh? Is there even a small voice inside you that says “GOOD JOB!” when you give it your all?  Let that voice also say “THANKS”…like the turtle would have said to the one who nudged it right-side up, or maybe the soldier would have said when he received a kiss in the midst of gunfire, or the kids who finally felt whole and talented and part of a team. The little ways we can create goodness add up.

2012 – A Higher Balance Looks Back

Happy holidays everyone!

It feels a little bittersweet to say “goodbye” to 2012! So many predictions, fascinations, communications from the “earth scholars” and “energy experts” about what’s happening…inside, outside, to people, planet and cosmos. Whew! What now WILL we talk about?  Well, plenty!

We have been and will continue to grow into our own mastery by way of the earth’s ascension as well as our own personal evolution. I’m totally psyched to be a part of this change, this upliftment, this honor to be on earth at this time!

Things at A Higher Balance have been morphing along with the planet’s agendas…growth, evolution, community, collaboration, commitment, empowerment and awakening.  The shifts have been deep and wide, yet the mission of A Higher Balance is still what is written on the top of the homepage of my website:

A Higher Balance Healing Center supports you on your path toward your highest, healed self and soul essence with private healing sessions, gatherings and trainings.

But now…(drum role please) A Higher Balance Healing Center has a slight name change. Don’t worry, the website is the same:  www.AHigherBalance.com. But it will simply be known as A Higher Balance. And, there is a “tag line” you will see under all electronic and printed communications…so it will look like this:

A Higher Balance
Center for Your Personal Awakening

The mission is the same: private sessions, classes, gatherings and trainings.
The emphasis over the last year has had a natural movement toward exactly what Planet Earth has intended for us humans:  our ascension, or awakening.

There is no end point to our evolution. So good for us…for all of us who have faced our fears, forgiven our friends and families, moved past that scary (fill in the blank) when we were 6, 8, or 18…left a job (even if we thought we didn’t want to) or a marriage (even if we thought we didn’t want to) or a home (even if we thought we didn’t want to). Good for us…for doing the heavy lifting of our own clearing out to make room for…well, whatever’s next to support our highest good!
It’s lighter now. Can you feel it?  Accessing your joy more often? Having outbursts of laughter? More in the present moment?  Good! That’s your ascension showing up. Don’t feel quite there? Good! That’s your ascension showing up!  More like a spiral than a straight shot to heaven on earth, our paths look different yet they are all leading us in the same direction as earth: up! Up where the vibration is higher, lighter, happier, clearer… YES!

When we make our healing/evolution/awakening conscious, it moves us more speedily toward our soul’s perfection, or fullest potential. So, all that happens within the sacred space of A Higher Balance will continue to feed you the yummy vibrations that open your heart, mind, body and soul to LOVE.

In sync with the newness and (finally!) the arrival of 2013 (oh joy!) my next newsletter will share with you an early list of some new and regular programs so you can save the dates. LOVE is still the theme, of course, and everything is on my website…now filling quickly through February! But before we have that look at what’s ahead, I want to take a moment to look back…..

A look back at A Higher Balance
To each client who walked in the door, whether it was once, weekly, monthly or occasionally, whether for healing, coaching or both, thank you for your openness and trust, and for allowing me the privilege to be with you!
To each student who walked into a training, each individual who walked into a group, thank you for sharing your Light  with A Higher Balance, and your commitment into the world. Truly it is an honor to have our hearts link!  I’ve said often that every person who walks in leaves a little Light, making the energy here sweeter, the vibration higher, and the opportunity for healing deeper…for all of us!

Here is a look back at all (most?) of the offerings held over the past year: some weekly, some monthly, some occasionally (probably left out something or other). And thanks to all who joined us to participate in these groups. Also, many thanks for the guest presenters who came to Higher Balance to offer their wisdom and gifts.

The Silent Song of the Heart

The Silent Song of the Heart            A blog by Judy

I love listening to music. And I love watching singers! Sometimes I think I would like to explore my inner rock star in a future lifetime. Hmmm…would I be outrageous like Lady Gaga, or elegant like Beyonce?  Tough choice!

Tonight I watched The Voice on TV. Talented singers looking for a break to get into the music business. They each have a little story to tell before they walk out on stage. Some have gone through a lot to get to this point, when they give it all they’ve got while four judges, turned in their chairs so they can’t see the singer, judge only the voice and turn around if they like it.

Some singers belt out a whole song and no judge turns around. Some sing only three notes and a judge turns around, knowing instantly the signer has the “it” factor.

Sometimes I found myself tearing up. The story, the courage, the once in a lifetime opportunity to receive “proof” that the talent is really there. All that work, the practice, the desire, the passion … if only one of the four judges turn around, then it’s all worth it. Greatness confirmed.

Some of the singers are subtle. I really like that. But I love it when that moment comes during that so familiar song when the singer nails the high note. The singer’s highest potential, fullest expression shows up for the world to witness! The judges smile, then press the big red button indicating they want that singer to be on their team so they can coach the singer to the top.

For the singers who are picked, all that work has reaped the perfect reward…an opportunity of a lifetime. They gave it their best, now they have the ultimate feedback:  the pros in the business like them.

>I’m reflecting on why I’m so moved. I’m in awe when the singer nails that tough note, or creates the perfect vibrato, or when a judge makes the choice and the “I want you” lights go on; or when, at the finale of the song, all the judges give a standing ovation – a rare occurrence indicating the singer has a true gift.

There’s something great about positive feedback! All that effort, determination, and persistence reap a profound final moment of acceptance. Finally, the singer knows. “YES!”  “I’m GOOD!”

It’s not so clear for those of us on a spiritual path. Our striving, dedication and persistent practices don’t always come to a final “thumbs up”…or “Great job” or …“Atta girl!” No red button, no turning chair.

Fortunately, however, there is grace. We keep at it, fueled by the thirst inherent in us. Seeking that feeling, that heart-opening moment when our thirst is quenched. When in the depth of meditative silence, peace widens. Insights arise. It’s not a wild applause, but it’s feedback! Our oh-so-subtle proof that our determined practice has provided rewards.

Our fullest expression on our inner path comes not in song but with silence. It reaps rewards not through applause, but with humility. No red button, but quiet gratitude. No judges, no audience. Only our own open heart, our deepening awareness, widening love. Soft, Subtle. Just as it should be.

While I have a big smile on my face for the exuberant singer who gets their breakthrough moment, my heart, fully immersed  inside deep stillness, always knows how to sing its perfect silent song.  YES! I’m GOOD!

Your Divine Awakening

The time of your awakening A blog by Judy

This is the time of your awakening. It may not feel that way, or it may feel very much that way! You may relate to the term “awakening” – knowing exactly what that means for you; or you may not know what “awakening” means for you, but perhaps you know you want to wake up! Some part of you is ready. Some part of you knows you are already awake!

Our personal awakening depends on our level of vibration. You have already felt this! In those times you are feeling not so great; sad, lonely, frustrated, afraid, angry…you are in a lower vibration. That isn’t YOU! You’ve also felt those times when you are open, happy, joyful, lighthearted, patient, forgiving. That’s the “YOU” that you want to walk around in! That’s the YOU at a higher vibration! And that’s where we are all headed, in this extraordinary time of personal and planetary awakening!

For many of us, it may not feel (YET) that we are deep in our awakening process! That’s because we are meant to clean up first! In other words, we’ve got to purge through those aspects and vibrational “strongholds” that just can’t rise up with us as we move toward our highest essence. They have a hold on us. So we’re in process of releasing and letting go. This shows up sometimes as loss….we suddenly find ourselves without the job, the home, the spouse or our plans we’ve been banking on. It’s all shattered. Well don’t worry! It’s all meant to be and spirit is clearing the way for the higher way of being that we are meant to live in!

In this third dimensional existence on our beloved Planet Earth, there will always be polarities. But we are rising! Can you FEEL it? We are rising in order to access and hold the higher vibration of the fifth dimension! No polarities here. I know you have been there consciously, because we all go there sometimes, even flipping back and forth between 3d and 5d…losing moments in our transitions, forgetting things, losing things…having trouble accessing our memory (sound familiar?)

In 5d where there are no polarities, we are constantly (yes, constantly) in our bliss. We are in a perpetual state of mindfulness, patience, optimism, openness, loving kindness, forgiveness, acceptance, synchronicity and manifestation! This is nothing less than heaven on earth! Sound good? You’ve been there, right? Perhaps for a week, a day, a few moments? Well imagine your bliss as always present! Hmmm….can you feel it now? Do you know you can consciously access your bliss? Do you know there are many ways to use your own will power to change your vibration? To lift yourself upwards to where you want to be? Your bliss is more under your control than you think!

No one knows better that YOU what lifts you up and makes you happy. But sometimes, it just takes a little help from another being to bring you to a place where you KNOW you have access to your OWN doorway to bliss.

Come join me the third Thursday of every month for a program called Divine Openings. Here you will be among kindred spirits who care about conscious awakening. You will receive three energy activations called Diving Opening which will give you a “kickstart” toward your next level of bliss. Feel the love, the expansion, the sacred union between YOU and your DIVINE SELF! Our next program is Thursday, Sept. 20, 7:00-9:00 pm. Fee is $30; please rsvp: Judy@AHigherBalance.com.

Can’t join us that night? Divine Openings can be brought to you from any distance! Three in a row are recommended, a week apart. Email Judy to schedule your Divine Openings series. Fee for these are $210 and include a conversation related to your goals, and coaching with Judy about how to access and maintain your highest vibration of awakening consciousness.

Judy was initiated by Lola Jones to provide Divine Openings. Lola Jones is author of the book Everything is Going Great in my Absence (wwwDivineOpenings.com) and also available through Judy. Take a look at all of Judy’s offerings at http://www.AHigherBalance.com

Spiritual Awakening and Divine Openings with Judy every third Thursday, 7-8:30 PM $30 Registration helpful: 781-639-1236 or Judy@AHigherBalance.com

This program is for anyone interested in accessing and sustaining higher consciousness. You will receive three Divine Openings and learn about ways to open and sustain freedom through higher vibrations. Divine Openings is an enlightenment activation. The Divine Presence becomes apparent as divine love and joy. At our meetings we can freely express and connect with like- hearted souls as we share in the powerful energy transmissions that provide expanded awareness. Join Judy’s Divine Openings Meetup

Flower Power

Flower Power

Have you ever communed with flowers?  Trees? Clouds?

In my last weekend in Mystery School we focused on Gaia. Immersed in a circle of amazing women, we’ve been meeting regularly for a year. This was the perfect ending to a long and wondrous journey of sacred ceremony, learning shamanic practices, delving into myth and mystery and gathering our strong hearts to open wider through deep letting go and moving toward our mastery.

In honor of Gaia we were asked to go outside to the glorious garden, pick a flower to “be” with and enter an altered state to learn what the flower might have to say.

It was heavenly being outside with warm sun and beauty all around us. I picked Evening Primrose because of the bright yellow color and the volume of flowers in perfect bloom, spreading across several feet. I didn’t know what to expect, but as soon as I began to focus, the flowers “spoke” to me, providing wisdom in a metaphor, as often happens to me in nature.

We were told to bring paper and pen so immediately I began to write. The poem, more accurately, wrote itself. Or maybe it really was written by Evening Primrose. Well, it doesn’t really matter. It was completed in moments. When I read it over, I decided I liked it, and not a word needed to be changed.

So here it is…I hope you enjoy it!

Message from Evening Primrose
By Judy Christine Copp

All of life is this precious.
All of life is this beautiful.
All of life is this fragile…
this delicate…this temporary.

All of life will change form.
A seed…a stem…a bud…a bloom…a bush.
Then back to dust, held inside the Mother.

And in season’s time,
back again.
Re-formed, re-patterned, re-membered.

The same…yet different.

Like you, we know not how the bud forms…
when it opens,
where it ends,
how one is dissimilar to another.

Or when the bud beside us
will fold, weaken
and return to soil again,
like your own soul.

Like you,
we know there is beauty in the cycle;
richness from the dark depths
where sun can’t reach
and we can’t open.

We do not disappear. Not really.
We become the earth that holds us,
the rain that feeds us,
the Mystery that is within us.

All to be revealed again
in the next cycle of seed to bud,
bud to bloom, bloom to bush.

And then we know.
The Mother that embraces all of life
is the very force of our own face.

The Soul of SoulCollage®

A Blog By Judy

How I relish the magic of the artistic process! Perhaps you’ve explored art and discovered you go off into what seems to be other realms. The right brain hemisphere “takes over” and brings us to those places where there is no thought, but only responses to feelings…insight, and revelations.  It’s that “aha” moment when just the perfect inspiration appears, so our creation gains value, even magic. Like the next inspired word for a poem, a new splash of paint on the canvas. Aside from writing and photography, I use (and teach) a technique called SoulCollage® to make my inner artist happy.

This month I spent four days on retreat at the Genesis Retreat Center in Westfield, MA to immerse in SoulCollage®.  Together with 25 other women, we went at it obsessively, even staying inside to be with our creations while the warm sunny days beckoned us outdoors.

An intuitive process that goes deep to the soul, SoulCollage®  is a way to work with images from magazines, calendars and books to create personal expressions that evoke inspiration and meaning. In this recent time with card-making, a few themes occurred and I’d like to share them with you.

Sometimes life seems so cluttered with responsibilities and distractions that it seems there is little time to just “be.” Creating simple cards that give rise to that sense of spaciousness is one way to be inspired to create more time and space. This earth-tone card also for me evokes a sense of connection to the earth and all her ways of beauty.

Within my huge deck of SoulCollage® cards I have many that depict being in a place above the earth. For me it’s not a disregard for the beauty of our planet and the gift of being here, but a soulful reminder we are not just beings of this third dimension. This card to me means “Lightness of Being.”

“Taking flight” to other realms, particulary the cosmos,  is a theme I like to work with a lot, as it produces a sense of expansion and the multidimensional nature of our humanness.

This is a  “romance” card–I’m happy I had these romantic images that also portray sacred partnership.

Self- love is an art. When I saw the woman in red wrapping her arms around herself it reminded me of those times when I do that too. My guess is we all do that at certain points in our lives. Even when we are not alone, it’s our own heart that is able to give out love or take it in from another person.

The woman in the wedding dress at first felt to me as if she was sad, walking away…giving up…the window – closed. The clock felt like time is going by, the bird in flight, leaving. But as I looked deeper when this card was completed, it became totally different. A divine union perhaps… time for creating a path of service…sacred solitude, the bird a symbol of freeing the soul. This is one of the wonderful aspects of SoulCollage®…the cards can change their meaning, perhaps depending on what’s going on….inside and out.

The Sacred

SoulCollagers like to work with windows, doors and other metaphors like pathways, stairways.  This was a window in a garden I cut out, then found a combination of a pathway leading to a divine being…and hands guiding toward the opening. It reminds me of my own yearning for divine connection.

The “Initiation” card  is my favorite of my new cards. Entering a gateway, humbled and in shadow in front of the divine being about to initiate her…and her readiness evident with diamond consciousness.

Of course there are many meanings in each card. These are like new friends, and we are getting to know each other.

Perhaps this blog inspires you to create your own cards. What images would you be drawn to? With a simple glue stick and some blank 5×8 mat board, how would your soul put them together for you? What may you learn about your inner self?

Come find out! I run a SoulCollage® class the first Sunday of every month, from 1-4 pm. The fee is $30 and all materials are supplied. Because we work on six-foot tables, space is limited so please let me know if you plan to come… Judy@AHigherBalance.com.  To see more of my SoulCollage® cards, check out my website http://www.ahigherbalance.com/soulcollage.htm.

SoulCollage® was developed by Seena Frost (www.SoulCollage.com ).
SoulCollage® cards are made from images found in materials like magazines, catalogs and calendars. These collaged cards are used only for the cardmaker’s own inner exploration.
SoulCollage® cards are not sold, traded, bartered, or copied (except as a back-up for the card-maker’s own use). SoulCollage® is grateful to the artists and photographers who make this deep awakening process possible and in all ways SoulCollage® seeks to be respectful of their rights.

About a Friend
Donna Lee Caramello

One of my best friends, Donna Lee Caramello, died on Monday, February 20 at 11:30 pm following a brave and noble journey through cancer. Donna is the first friend I’ve lost. She loved to cook “for the masses,” and created connections masterfully. Solstice gatherings, parties, dinners, creative travel, clients, healers and on and on… she drew crowds to her like the sun lifts flowers to itself.

It’s because of Donna that I met my best friend Liz, my other best friend, Elaine, a guru from India, the co-author of my book Edemir Rossi, and numerous other friends, acquaintances and experiences. Holly, Janice, Joanne, Donna H., Suzan, Beth, Ravi, Roxanne, Kathleen, Shelley and many more.

Donna and I shared a trip to India, three retreats with Amma, sacred conversations,  weekly webcasts with Shri Guru Dadaji, healing groups, deep sharing, sound healing concerts, infinite dinners together, life’s philosophies and on and on.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

Poem attributed to Mary Frye

A few days following Donna’s passing, I took to the woods. It’s February. The last time I was in the woods was fall…full of color and freshness. Today all was evenly lit with overcast light. Brown leaves, brown branches, brown earth. Tree limbs were fallen everywhere, some from last year’s hurricane. I looked around for “signs” of Donna’s presence. Feeling as if she was around me all the time, I hoped perhaps I would come across some twigs in shape of her initials, some clouds forming hearts. Something to offer proof she is really still with me.

Donna was my teacher in so many ways. Always in a place of unconditional love, she taught me about love…not with words, but from her consistent open heart. Her deep acceptance of every being that crossed her path helped others with their own self- love. In that acceptance, I witnessed myself and others open more, widening their friendships with others in Donna’s circles.

Her funeral was a lovely service, with a moving eulogy from her brother David. Friends clutched one another as we watched her casket leave the church, David’s words ringing in our hearts: “As Donna would say; Live, Love, Laugh… Bye for now!”

Knowing Donna, she sped into the Light that Monday evening of her last breath. Perhaps she flew toward the angels to polish their halos, prune their wings and bring their level of divine service up a notch.

Grief comes in waves. As soon as it’s too much, our psyche ebbs toward relief. I’m amazed at the human capacity to take on this quantum amount of raw grief. There were moments I thought the sorrow of the whole world was moving through me, as I stood standing in my bedroom, bent over, wailing at full lung capacity. Thank you to my friends and healers who held me up when I couldn’t stand alone… Liz, Debbie, Kelley, Helene, Heather, Susan, Judy B.

Usually my blogs have a less personal message. Thank YOU for creating a space for me to speak from my heart in this way. And I also realize that this very personal message is not so personal, but universal. In the midst of my deepest moments of sorrow I prayed for all those who have lost a loved one. We go through these depths alone, yet we are not alone. Grief is universal. And always, I believe, bittersweet. It’s because a heart can love that much that it can hurt that much. Bless the tenderness of an open heart. Thanks to God, Donna, Donna’s friends and family. May Donna and all beings be at peace.

Perhaps you’ve  lost a loved one. Would you like to take a moment and pay tribute? You are welcome to leave a response here on Judy’s Blog.

Love is Everywhere- A Special Valentine’s Message

I love love! Don’t you? Love is honey for the soul, fragrance for the senses and sunlight for the body.

Love holds hands with grace, gratitude, humility and joy. When we have any one of these feelings, in full strength in our heart space, they join as a team, fluttering within us like dragonflies, creating silly happy feelings and smiles.

I love that there are so many ways to be in love. I love my work, the clients who come to see me. I see their strength and commitment toward growing more toward love.

I love chocolate. Not a lot of chocolate, but I’m fussy about what kind. For me it’s dark chocolate with bits of espresso beans mixed in (“Endangered Species” chocolate bars at Whole Foods – the one with the tiger eyes. Yum.)

Journey of the Heart

Journey of the Heart - SoulCollage card by Judy

I love my friends and the fun and deep connection they offer so fully to my life.

Little white dogs bring an instant smile to my face – they all remind me of Allisun, my Bichon who now continues to wag her tail and adore me from her heaven world.

I love music. Music brings me elsewhere in time and space. Has to be the right music, though. Like many of the CDs I use during healing sessions. Chants, singing bowls, voice toning.  And I love that I learned to drum once with Babatunde Olatunji before he left to show the spirit world a thing or two about rhythm.

I love SoulCollage®. This creative, soulful art process evokes feelings from way deep, where yearning calls on love for healing, wholeness and expression.

Love likes embodiment but not containment, so love loves to be huge. No boundaries. That’s why love seeks outside of us, as free-flowing energy emitting a gift to another being. I love that.

Love desires merging, of course. Wrapped around another body, love is happy with sensual contact. Or, wrapped within us, love offers a palpable force through meditation or yoga. I like that too.

Fortunately, there are so many, many ways to merge with the Divine. Closeness with nature is one of my favorites, as you can tell from three of my blogs about my walks in the woods.

Gazing into someone’s eyes brings about a human and divine merging at once. I’ve been blessed to have a teacher from India whose eyes I look at weekly for a blessing. Thanks to technology, it’s like he is right there, the divine energy emanating right out the computer screen along with EMF waves.

Amma, the hugging saint, is another awakened one who has looked in my eyes. Once when she released her hug, I toppled to the floor, much to the dismay of her assistants there to keep the line moving.

Last blog I wrote I invited you to go to the mirror and look into your eyes and say “I Love You.” This time I want to invite you to look into someone else’s eyes. Send your love at the same time you are receiving love from that person. It doesn’t need to be an “awakened being.”  We are all “awake.” Just try it. Try it not for an instant, but for a long time, like ten minutes. Relax into this pair of eyes before you. Sit close together, knees almost touching. Who is behind these eyes? What is creating that Light? Soften your whole being and allow the Light from both of you to merge. Let it expand. And expand more. Then there will be the two of you as one Light. Notice full heartedly the Love that flows between you…around you…within you. In just a few minutes, you will know your Self as That.

Loving You!

Your Energy System and the Law Attraction

Welcome to Musings from A Higher Balance!

The human energy system includes      the upward and downward flow of      universal energy into the body and      seven major chakras. When our      energy system is clear, we are able      to project positive energy, one of the key elements required to fulfill  the law of attraction.

Welcome to 2012! How is your year going? As all the 2012 scholars have predicted, this is the year to face our core issues, let go of what is in the way of our wholeness, and take hold of what will move us forward toward our personal mastery. At this point we have all been aware and working with the Law of Attraction; but I still find that a deeper understanding about the relationship between the Law of Attraction and the human energy field provides a more complete way of using all of our resources to build the life we want. Nowadays I still have conversations with clients and students about why something they’ve been working so hard on creating has not come to fruition. So I’m publishing in Musings this month an article I wrote shortly after The Secret came out. I hope this article works to inspire you to go deeper into your own creative power!

Your Energy System and the Law of Attraction
By Judy Christine Copp
This article appeared in the summer 2007 edition of Spirit of Change magazine.

The best-selling DVD movie, The Secret, wonderfully explores the law of attraction through the voices and ideas of several scholars, and has inspired many of us to take deeper notice of our thoughts, feelings and intentions. The law of attraction states that we attract to ourselves, both consciously and unconsciously, whatever we give our attention to. This attraction occurs whether our focus is to have something or to not have something. Therefore, to attract what we really want, we should use only positive thoughts and feelings to bring it forth.

The law of attraction can best be explained as universal energy which obeys the science of physics based on these three principles: 1) everything is energy; 2) energy follows thought; 3) what you focus on you get more of. We are like cosmic magnets. Our thoughts and feelings send out a vibration, and universal energy matches our vibration by giving us more of the same, resonant energy.

The benefits of positive thinking are not new or secret. But because The Secret bundles its messages in such an uplifting way, it refreshes our perception of ourselves as magnificent creators. However, even if we’ve been practicing the concepts brought out so clearly in the movie, we often still experience wanting something for years, doing all the “right” affirmations, intentions, inspired actions and visualizations, only to find our efforts lead nowhere. The relationship is still missing, the job remains unfulfilling, and the new years resolutions go poof! after 60 days.

Why does this happen? I have a few of my own thoughts about why we don’t manifest in spite of our best intentions. First, we are not alone in the creative process. Our soul is at work, and sometimes our soul knows best what is in our highest good or what lessons we require for our soul growth. These may not be apparent to our conscious mind. Second, divine timing. Sometimes the universe simply asks us to wait until the timing is right. The third factor of manifestation is our own personal energy system which can both support and/or challenge our abilities to create what we want. A clear energy system is a key element required to fulfill the law of attraction!

The human energy system includes the upward and downward flow of universal energy into the human body and the seven major chakras, or energy vortices, which attach to the spinal column. These and other parts of our energy system are very dynamic and change quickly based on what we think and feel. If our thoughts are not positive, our energy system reacts by pulling in negative energy and can become blocked. Old behavior patterns repeat themselves, preventing us from moving towards our greatest intentions. When our energy system is clear, however, we are able to project positive energy, one of the key elements required to fulfill the law of attraction.

Creating with Your Energy System

Thoughts have energy that instantly impacts our energy system. Have you ever felt like you received a sudden jolt around your abdomen during an uncomfortable exchange with someone? It’s because your third chakra, your area of personal power, became blocked because of your thought about the person or situation. If you’ve ever seen a loved one and your heart became full, it’s because your heart chakra responded to your thoughts by opening up and magnifying itself.

Once you have a thought that produces joy, your energy system responds by aligning with the highest aspects of your self. Experiences of joy from the past and the present come flooding toward you adding to the joy of the moment. It’s the same with sadness. A little sadness can bring forth a flood of sadness, especially from the past. So, whether we produce thoughts that make us feel good or produce thoughts that make us feel bad, we will attract similar energy to us.

When we feel really, really, good is the best and most effective time to decide on our intentions and to manifest what we want because our energy system is running at peak cycle. Our energy is beaming positive vibrations outward, so what we get back from the universe is more positive vibrations. This creates a clear path to create the new job, new relationship, financial abundance, regular yoga practice or whatever it is we want to manifest. When our energy system requires repair, we stay on “auto pilot,” repeating the same mental, emotional and behavioral patterns in spite of wanting and intending change. We can waver with our choices, question too much, put off actions and delay making decisions.

Universal energy has both an upward and a downward flow through the body. The upward flow of energy is from the earth and liberates us. When clear, this energy flow can release us from fixed ideas or patterns that aren’t helpful. The downward flow of energy comes in through the crown of the head and is the energy of manifestation. When this flow is clear, we get ideas and inspiration from our upper chakras and we act on them using our lower chakras. So, if there is a block in the upper flow of energy, we stay fixed in our thoughts and behaviors that might be preventing us from creating more of who we are and what we want. If there is a block in the downward flow, we can have ideas but we are unable to manifest them into the world.

All of your thoughts, feelings and vibrations create your aura, the field of universal energy surrounding your body. The aura is your personal energy climate which travels with you throughout the day, attracting positive and negative experiences which match its unique vibration. This universal energy also runs through the chakras. The seven major chakras govern different aspects of our consciousness and influence how we feel, act and manifest.

Crown Chakra

The crown chakra, at the top of the head, is where our Divine Self connects to the human form and where we experience oneness with the universe. This is where we receive divine wisdom and the flow of higher light. This chakra works to support the whole system by bringing in clear, cosmic energy and releasing energy not required by the system. A blocked crown chakra could hold us stuck to unwanted beliefs or create confusion or closed-mindedness, inhibiting our manifestation process.

Third Eye

The third eye, located about an inch above the bridge of the nose, is where we receive inspiration and intuition, and where we connect with other dimensional realms. With a clear third eye we will be open to a flow of new ideas, but if the third eye is not clear, we will stay in our patterns of thinking. A blocked third eye inhibits our imagination and ability to see alternatives. We could be drawn to fantasies, illusions or obsessions rather than intuition and inspiration.

Throat Chakra

When our throat chakra is clear, we easily speak our truth and connect with others through our voice, our communication. If the throat chakra is blocked, energy which is normally expressed through the use of our voice will flow to another chakra as blocked energy. The throat chakra expresses our creative identity and is an important part of creating and acting on our intentions.

Heart Chakra

While the throat chakra is expressive, the heart chakra is receptive and therefore can clog easily. When the heart chakra is blocked we have sadness; when it’s clear we access joy. A closed heart chakra can keep us from connecting with others or from moving on from past hurts. When we release grief and loss through forgiveness and love, we attract to us the love we want in our lives.

Third Chakra

The third chakra, located above the belly button, helps us manifest all of who we are including our values, visions and goals. It’s where we hold our sense of self and use our personal power to carry out our intentions. Governed by the fire element, the third chakra is where we take action. When blocked, we don’t have enough fire, or energy, to act. We can become passive and unable to muster up the discipline, courage or confidence required to create what we want.

Second Chakra

The second chakra, located below the belly button, is where we feel and attract resonant energy to us. It magnifies the Law of Attraction. This is also where we hold to old belief systems. If the second chakra is blocked we could feel guilty, untrusting or fearful of change. With a clear second chakra, we embrace change and attract more of what we really want. Governed by the element of water, it’s important this chakra be in a flowing state. Emotions need to be in motion — flowing through us so we don’t stay stuck in our stuff!

Base Chakra

Located at the base of the spine and governed by the earth element, the base chakra provides grounding and support for the entire energy system. It is the last chakra in the downward flow of universal energy and is the foundation for materializing our ideas and intentions. When blocked, the base chakra can bring about fear of survival and attract energy that makes manifestation difficult.

Keeping Your Energy Clear
The condition of the human energy system influences how effectively we are able to work with the law of attraction because the energy system is the vibrational force that attracts people, circumstances and events to us. While positive thoughts and feelings have an instant impact on the energy system, some energies have been manifested on a denser, physical level. The mind stores impressions of everything it perceives and our emotional body stores our experiences. Sadness, self-doubt, anger or any negative thoughts or behavior patterns that have built up over time create blockages in the energy system that need to be released before we can create change.

A block means the energy is not in motion and we can’t access the higher aspects of ourselves. All energy healing modalities — Reiki, polarity therapy, RYSE, and many more — work to release energy blocks and can make the difference between staying stuck and moving on. Energy healing releases negativity, resistance and unwanted habits to free us in our creative process and gives us the “juice” to be inspired and make things happen. Regular energy healing sessions keep the system clear and work through behavioral and emotional patterns that can affect our creative process.

One of the simplest messages in “The Secret” is to discover what gives you joy and do more of it. Since our feelings send a vibration out into the universe, I can’t think of a better gift to give ourselves and the world right now.

Embodiment: A Spiritual View

For some reason I’ve been thinking about the notion of “embodiment” lately. Some of this is from the walks in the woods…which propelled me to blog to begin with. The moment I enter the woods, at Steer Swamp in Marblehead…the trees enfold me. The leaves below cushion me. The branches beside me embrace me. I’ve become part of their community. A guest…more than a visitor. An observer, appreciator. What comes to mind when I visit the woods is the zen koan that goes something like…if there is no one in the woods to hear a tree fall, does the tree make noise? I’ve also heard notion about a flower, for example, which does not understand its beauty until it is witnessed. It brings up our relationship with the earth…are we witness? Observer? Creator? Harmonizer?

So what do I want to say about embodiment? My last walk in the woods, today, was sensual. I saw how the woods became a symbol of embodiment. Leaves and the way they unfurled and touched each other, like sweet surrender. Tree bark and its curvy lines flowing and touching and growing apart and touching again. Some branches wrapped in tantric ecstasy around other branches…no spaces in between. It brings up those times when I’ve been so in love and in lovemaking I wanted the skin to disappear so union between us could truly exist in this dimension.

What else comes to mind is the poetry of Rumi:

The minute I heard my first love story,

I started looking for you,

not knowing how blind that was.

Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere,

they’re in each other all along.

From Essential Rumi by Coleman Barks

When fully embodied, our divine Self is in us…fully felt, fully here, fully one with our being. Not something we want to connect with, but the connection itself. Not something we reach for, but something within us…IS us.

When I feel full…complete…I want for nothing. It’s because what I call Spirit is fully within me. I’ve been a Kriya Meditation teacher for a bunch of years…the greatest blessing I can name. I guide people to bring light into their body. The Light is also energy…divine love. A divine embrace. When we pull this energy/light/love into the body it becomes one with us. Then there is no light to love, no love outside of ourselves to reach for. We are that. We are the love we seek, the light we crave, the completeness we yearn for. It’s a high state of consciousness, yet a consciousness available to us so easily, just by opening up to it.

Music is tantric for me. Some of you know I’m in a sound healing trio called Mystic Sound. I witness our cello player, Clarence Dow. When he plays/loves his cello, he is one with it. I know by looking at him there is no separation. He blends with the music he creates. I watch Dave Estes, who plays didgeridoos that he also builds, and I see so clearly there is nothing else in his awareness but fulfilling his mission of creating a sound vibration that heals. He’s in another place, yet he is here with us. When I play my crystal bowls with Clarence and Dave, any notion of a “Judy” is gone. My brainwaves connect with them…with the only intention of blending, being in Oneness, so that anyone listening will feel/sense/become the same thing…one with the All that is.

This is what draws me to the woods, to meditation and to creating sound. Also to energy healing, which is my favorite thing to do, the core of my work and my heart of service. Energy healing, when done with a pure intention to give fully to the healing of another being, is an embodiment. The practitioner pulls it in, offers it out as a flow of healing light/energy/love/vibrational force, and the receiver receives a healing. Higher energy comes into the body, and that energy releases what is ready to go…what no longer serves the person.

Two things cannot occupy the same space in this dimension. Higher energy escorts lower energy out. It’s a transmutation. Lower energy goes to the Light. Light takes its place. It’s a new embodiment of sacred energy/light/divine love. How beautiful is that? As ”healer” I am not the healer…but the observer, appreciator, harmonizer, witness. Like when I walk through the woods and appreciate the leaves and the branches and the trees which embrace, I am witness. God/Goddess/Source made the trees. God/Goddess/Source heals.

We serve the Light in many ways. We are energy beings, and when we embody high energy we are the Source, the Light, the Divine Love that creates. Go to the mirror. Look in your eyes, deeply. You are God, the creative force on earth, the cause of your personal and planetary evolution and awakening. See yourself as this embodiment, this container for the Divine. Blessed be!
